Here are some tips for getting organized!

1.   Take a blank weekly calendar that has been divided into 15- or 30-minute sections. Email me for this template ([email protected]).

2.   Schedule in your ‘A’ activities first. For salespeople, this usually includes dials, referrals, reaches, appointment times, etc.

  • Do you know when your Golden Hour for prospecting should occur?
  • When scheduling your activities, try to batch them together so that you are doing like activities together. If you make phone calls for referrals and phone calls for prospecting, then schedule those together. If you can, have two days per week when you schedule all of your appointments and hold them in the same location. This will help your brain stay focused in one direction.
  • Schedule ramp-up time in the early morning so that you have your game plan and prospecting list ready. You’ll be ready to hit the ground running when your calendar says dial.
  • Schedule ramp-down time in the late afternoon. This is when you send those emails that you said you would send. You do not stop prospecting to send them. Then begin planning who you will speak to for the next day.

3.   Schedule your ‘B’ activities during your more down times. This is usually between 10:30 am and 3 pm, but it may vary based on your job.

  • A ‘B’ activity can include answering important emails, but not all emails. (For instructions on how to turn off your Outlook Email Notification Alarm, please email me.)

4.   Schedule your ‘C’ activities. These are often things that can all be handled on Friday afternoon or in the middle of the day. You might consider making your customer service follow-up calls when you are on the road. (Make sure the list has big print so you don’t wreck while trying to see who to call while driving.)

5.   Finally, schedule 30 minutes at the end of every week to take a look back over your Ideal Schedule. What went well? What needs to change?

Getting into the habit of being militant about where you spend your time is simple, but it’s not easy. The great thing is, once you have it down, you will have it down. Best of all? You will find yourself on a Faster Track than you ever thought possible. Not only will you accomplish more in your life and your business, but you will also sleep better at night!
