How to Have a Millionaire Mindset

Imagine if we all thought like millionaires.

Our success and drive would be unparalleled! We would be unstoppable! Never afraid to step outside our “comfort zones.”

One thing successful people do consistently is keep their self-talk positive. Sixty to eighty percent of what we say to ourselves is negative or “voiced” in survival mode. Negative things such as: “This is too hard,” “I wish I made more money,” or “I should be more successful than I am!”

Survival mode statements are often referred to as “I’ve got to” statements. A few examples are “I’ve got to be nice,” “I’ve got to lose some weight,” “I’ve got to go to work or I will be fired,” or “I’ve got to comply with corporate rules, but I really want to be creative and do it my way.”

If you speak to yourself in this manner and tone, it is no wonder that we view ourselves with a negative self-image and low productivity. You wouldn’t want to work for or with anyone who talks to you in such a way.

There is good news.

This can be changed. Do you utilize daily affirmations? If you don’t, it is time to start! Embracing a Millionaire Mindset involves positive thoughts and positive self-talk. A quick and easy way to incorporate this into your life is through writing and reading out loud positive affirmations. I am not talking about reading your affirmations once daily; I mean you MUST do this out loud, speaking with conviction, 5 or 6 times every day. This will make a major impact on your life, both personally and professionally.

When starting out, this concept often feels awkward. Trust me on this; I speak from experience. The idea of reading words out loud to oneself to bring about change in the way one thinks or acts can at first seem strange. My advice is “fake it until you make it!” It is with language—strong, positive language—where possibilities are created, and action is taken.

One of the most important concepts of having a Millionaire Mindset is centered around self-talk.

Success comes from actions. If actions are not productive, we will not achieve success. Actions are filtered by our feelings and feelings come from our attitudes. Our attitudes and feelings are deeply rooted in our beliefs. The upside to this is that these beliefs are purely programming. You can re-train your brain to BELIEVE what you want.

One needs to understand the following:

  • Negative Self-Talk = Poor Self-Image = Low (Poor) Activity = Undesirable results
  • Positive Self-Talk = Great Self-Image= High (Great) Activity = Amazing results

The key here is ACTIVITY. You must spend time studying, doing the correct activities daily, and investing your time and energy in important, productive things.

When your self-talk and self-image are right, success will follow.

  1. Practice reading your affirmations.
  2. Live a life of positive self-talk rather than negative.

When you focus on these two things, you will find you will be more driven, creative, and have a greater ability to bounce back from obstacles or adversity. You won’t spend time rationalizing and making excuses. You will focus on the good, on what you can control, and come up with a plan to accomplish your goals. In essence, you will go out and make things happen!

When beginning to write affirmations, make sure they are written in a first-person voice. This means you say “I” and “my” rather than “them,” “we,” or “us.” Affirmations are written in the present tense. For example, I am or I am becoming. Use powerful words that convey pictures or emotions. For example, “I am a wildly successful business owner,” or “I am becoming incredibly organized because I handle each email once.” Another might be, “I am exceptional at social media and technology, and work hard to better myself daily as it is the way people communicate and sell in today’s society.”

Here are some examples of Positive Affirmations

  • I am great at remembering people’s names.
  • I like pressure; it brings out the best in me!! (This is my favorite.)
  • Every No I receive gets me one closer to a Yes.
  • I am a winner and always getting better.
  • I am becoming a great manager because I take the time to listen to my team.
  • It is like me to hit my goals!
  • I am a very good speller.
  • I am a person that is financially responsible and never spend more than I earn.
  • My thoughts and conversations about other people and things are always positive.
  • I am a $1,000,000 producer and win awards every year.

I recommend you take some time and write out 10-15 affirmations you will use. Write what is important to you both personally and professionally. Be specific. Get personal. Once written, read them 4-6 times a day. I read mine every day at 8 am, 10 am, 12 noon, 2 pm, 4 pm, and 6 pm.  If I have an appointment at one of those times, I say them right before or right after. This is not a time-consuming activity. I typically read them while standing up and out loud. It is impossible to read them and not take action on your words. You will either do something about what you are saying, or you will quit reading them. It is a case of cause and effect.

  • Be specific
  • Get personal
  • Read them aloud 5-6 times daily
  • You are worth it!

The gift of Positive Self-Talk and Affirmations is a gift you should appreciate and start doing immediately. The rewards are exponential. The expense to put this into place and execute is minimal. It’s up to you. What are you waiting for?
