How to Set Up your Schedule for Success as a Sales Leader

Is your calendar structured in a way so that your time spent matches how you are getting paid?

Sales leaders have all sorts of different commission structures. You may have some base salary and then possibly paid a percentage of your production if you are a producing sales manager. Also, you are probably paid a percentage of your team’s production. Some of you may have no base, and it may be all commission or other variations of that, but there’s always a calculation that goes into how you’re getting paid as a sales leader.

I want to help you better match your time spent and your pay structure! I am so excited to get you to think about how your calendar matches how you get paid. Here’s what I mean by that, sales leaders have different commission structures. You may have some base salary and then possibly paid a percentage of your production if you are a producing sales manager. Also, you are probably paid a percentage of your team’s production.

Now, some of you may have no base, and it may be all commission. Some of you may have other variations of that, but there’s always a calculation that goes into how you’re getting paid as a sales leader.

When we first start working with coaching clients, many times, their calendar and how they’re investing their time isn’t aligned with how they get paid.

An example would be if a coaching client gets paid for only 5% of their team’s production and yet they spend 50-60 percent of their time managing their team. The flip side is a client that makes the majority of their pay from team production but spends most of their time on personal production.

Today is about asking the question, is your calendar aligned with how you get paid? It’s not that it has to be a perfect match, i.e., I get paid 40 percent from my team, so I’m only going to spend 40 percent of my time on them. It’s not that exact but does your calendar make sense given the way your commission structure works.
