Income Producing Activities for Sales Leaders (Part 1 of 12)

As a sales leader, are you proactively recruiting and doing recruiting interviews?

In my first installment of 12 activities that sales leaders need to do to make money, I am going to talk about the importance for you to be constantly recruiting. Even if there is NOT a need currently, you NEED to have a file of source resumes. Otherwise, you will waste resources and scramble at the last minute trying to fill team positions.

For those of you who are in sales leadership, I’m going to be doing this video series for you on the twelve different things you can do in your day that make you money.

I am so passionate about this because I coach and work with a lot of different sales leaders and often they feel like their days are reactive, putting out fires and dealing with team needs.

And while, yes, you do need to do those things, if you don’t prioritize these income-producing activities that we’re going to be talking about, you’re not getting things done that MAKE YOU MONEY.

Today, I want to share with you the first income-producing activity that you should be focusing on as a sales leader, and it’s proactively recruiting and doing recruiting interviews.

I am currently working with a coaching client who is a sales leader, and he manages a team of account reps. We are working on his need to fill a new leadership role in their company. However, they don’t have a list of people already lined up whom he can call.

THIS IS VERY COMMON! As a sales leader, many wait until they have a need or a role to fill to start sourcing resumes. It’s part of your job as a leader always to be recruiting EVERYWHERE you go.

Recruiting is an income producing activity as a leader, even if you don’t already have a role that you need to fill right now. Prioritize this EVERY SINGLE WEEK!

When you’re out and about, when you’re talking with your team members, when you’re working with other people you think would be great in other roles, have a brief conversation with them. I will be doing future videos on this process.
